Villa des Courtissous...entre terres et pierres La Villa des Courtissous is also becoming a place of artistic events, workshops and residencies. It's just the perfect place for that! In June and July extraordinary artists come through here...stone sculptors, contemporary artists, extraordinary musicians, story-tellers, kite-builders.Alexander Chitungo and Lisborn Mashaya are Zimbabwean stone sculptors who have chosen the Dordogne to share their passion and their art. This year their programme is already full, with a sculpture to celebrate democracy in the Junas Stone festival in the Gard region, and a residency programme for Alex in the Pyrenees. David Chinyama, a contemporary artist from Zimbabwe, thinks that St Rabier has a very warm welcome for african arts. He will be back in residence in St Rabier, between calls to open exhibitions in Germany and Czech Republic. Binda Ngazolo, a story-teller from Cameroon, has found here in St Rabier the calm beauty so necessary for creative writing, he has been back twice since last summer and he particpated in a story-telling festival in Dordogne in the autumn. Yann and his kite-building workshoppers love the space and freedom to build their beautiful birds, so light that air alone carries them up and away. Hope Masike, after her year of teaching mbira and singing in Norway, is back in Zimbabwe, but will be in France again this summer, and here in St Rabier in July. She continues to create music that truly vibrates in your innermost being. Come in July to discover the beauty of these artworks, as well as the extraordinary creativity and human qualities of the artists. And why not try your hand at art during the workshops.
