The Villa des
Courtissous was first built in 1850 by the Froidefond and
Beauregard families, and it is said that the house has always
been a place of board and hospitality. Parisian families boarded
here over the long summer months in the early 20th century, two
French Jewish families were taken in for protection during the
second world war (the Brehmer Division burnt the house down in
retribution on March 30th 1944) and a small factory
manufacturing enamel tiles and jewelry was housed in the Villa
for 30 years until 1999 when the house was refurbished with
taste and energy by the former owners, Mr and Mrs Dalibard and
became once again a place of hospitality.....the upstairs rooms
were turned into chambres d'hôte and the old barn into a
charming holiday cottage. We have tried to keep up this more-than-a-century-old
custom of hospitality and welcoming visitors into our home. |

You can enjoy walks in the park,
with the century-old linden and yew trees, to see all
our metal animals from Zimbabwe (they are our very quiet,
easy guests!) or take a walk, a bike-ride or a drive into the surrounding countryside
to see the villages, or just relax on the sunbeds
around the pool. What better way to finish a day of serious sight-seeing than a glass of fine local wine on the edge of
the sparkling pool!

You can use
the
barbecue for outside summer
meals.

For those of you with a little
more energy, there is table tennis, badminton, volley-ball, petanque (French street
bowls) or darts in the
shade of the former farm hangar which seems to have been built for
just that reason. For the kids there is also a play area.
The village is less than
a mile away, and
has a beautiful church, a restaurant, tennis courts, a snack bar, a bar, a
small grocery store with fresh bread and newspapers.
